“When You Give Good, You Get Good”

This past spring, our very own Keith Galletta got the call to asses a home located in Newtonville, New Jersey, not far from his own home. The homeowners Leola and Bertina are 85 and 87-year-old sisters, who were in need of a new heating and cooling system. After selecting a new unit, Keith worked on completing their credit application. In need of the women’s monthly income to finish the forms, Keith realized how little they make (less than most make in a week).

With this newfound knowledge, Keith became much more concerned about the women than the sale or credit approval. During the installation of the new unit, the team found a plumbing leak and electrical issue, which they repaired at no cost to the homeowners.

Over the summer, Keith made it routine to stop by and drop off blueberries, corn, and tomatoes. He would make sure everything was alright with ladies and their house. He had noticed from his initial consultation visit in the spring, and every time after, that there was a dead 80-foot Oak tree between the house and powerlines. It looked quite dangerous and after seeing a fallen branch during one of his visits, Keith asked if the women had inquired about having it taken down. They said they had, but the $1,500 expense was out of the question. After dragging the branch off the property, Keith said he would ask around to see what he could do about the tree.

Fortunately, Keith reached out to a guy from Egg Harbor Township named Rick Yoos. Rick often helps Broadley’s by lifting their HVAC equipment onto buildings with his mini crane truck, although his primary business is tree service. Before Keith could even finish his story and ask for help, Rick interrupted with, “what’s the address and when do you want me to do it?”

Rick always says, “when you give good, you get good,” and showed up Saturday, September 17th at 8:30am with is new 100-foot super crane truck to take down the tree. Mark Loomis (another Broadley’s estimator), Rick, and Keith all worked to clean up the yard by 11am. They celebrated by having lunch with the ladies, courtesy of Broadley’s. It was certainly a memorable day for all involved, with the hope that good deeds continue to happen daily.
